HEADACHE & MIGRAINE TREATMENT & RELIEF:
NEUROLOGISTS
Neurologists are experts in dealing with Nerve and Brain problems and diseases.
Neurologists often investigate causes of headaches and migraines and ensure nothing is seriously wrong.
Common reasons to see one include: recent onset head pain / worsening episodes /nerve weakness or loss of sensation/ numbness etc..
Often a Neurologist will have tests performed to investigate a patient's head-pain, such as C-T scans and M.R.I's; and these will give a good picture of most serious problems. Your Neurologist may also perform other tests as part of the diagnostic routine and eventually provide a diagnosis, for which he/she may make certain recommendations and/or prescribe medications as part of your headache treatment or migraine treatment.
Neurologists will also help to recognise other areas that may need further treatment or investigating, and refer to the appropriate expert(s).
All cases of headache & migraine need to be properly diagnosed by a trained health care professional first.your family doctor is ideally positioned to help make decisions with you and co-ordinate any therapeutic trials. Many cases have a number of causes (not just one), so it is important to consider a combination of therapies / or approaches when this is the case.
